ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- **As anxious as fans across Broncos Country were to find out the team's 2014 schedule, two men inside Dove Valley were just as interested.
Head Coach John Fox and Executive Vice President of Football Operations/General Manager John Elway spoke with Broncos TV's Chris Hall shortly after finding out the "whens" regarding Denver's upcoming slate.
"I think No. 1, we open at home against a playoff team a year ago, the Indianapolis Colts, on primetime television," Fox said of what stood out to him. "I think that is always exciting – to see how you open, where do you open and who you open with. That's what all this offseason stuff is going to be geared to."
"I think we have a home-heavy schedule first half of the season and a road-heavy schedule late in the year," he continued. "You notice five primetimes – all those things are great. It's hard to say as far as opponents and schedules and all that kind of stuff because you never know year-to-year. They're all tough."
The fact that Denver plays five of its first seven games at Sports Authority Field at Mile High stood out to Elway as well.
"I think when you look at it, we have to start fast," he said. "We have three playoff teams the first three weeks with the Colts and the Chiefs and the Seahawks. We have to get off to a quick start."
"But we knew it was going to be a tough schedule anyways playing the NFC West, plus when we finish first in our division like we have the past three years, it is always going to be a tough schedule with a lot of good football teams on it. I think there are a lot of good things about it and we'll do the best we can with it."
Fox said he also looks at any inclement weather possibilities that jump out right away, but said that this year's schedule "doesn't look too bad in that area."
Ultimately, both men were glad to have the schedule release out of the way.
"I'll finally get to have my schedule posted in my office on my greaseboard and that'll make it official," Fox said.
Now, all eyes are undoubtedly pointed forward.
"You get out of 2013 and you get into 2014," Elway said. "Plus, going through the draft and with the draft a couple weeks away, that also kicks off the '14 season. So, we're excited about it. Glad that the schedule is out and that people can start planning and now we'll look to '14."
