Broncos sign RB Stanley Williams, release RB Bernard Pierce

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. —** The Denver Broncos on Monday claimed running back Stanley Williams off waivers and released running back Bernard Pierce, President of Football Operations/General Manager John Elway announced.

Williams (5-8, 190 pounds) is a rookie from the University of Kentucky who was signed by the Cincinnati Bengals as a college free agent on May 5 before being waived by the team on Aug. 20.

In three seasons at Kentucky, Williams appeared in 33 games (22 starts) for the Wildcats and led the team in rushing from 2014-16. He totaled 366 carries for 2,511 yards (6.7 avg.) with 18 touchdowns in addition to catching 38 passes for 292 yards (7.7 avg.) with two scores during his collegiate career.

A graduate of George Walton Academy in Monroe, Ga., Stanley "Boom" Williams was born on Sept. 30, 1995.
