Broncos pick QB Chad Kelly with 253rd-overall pick as 'Mr. Irrelevant'

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. —** With the final pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Broncos selected quarterback Chad Kelly from Mississippi.

Kelly, the nephew of Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly, starred at Ole Miss in 2015 and 2016.

He led the Rebels to a 10-3 record in 2015 and a Sugar Bowl victory. In his final season at Ole Miss, he was named first-team All-SEC by Pro Football Focus and second-team All-SEC by the Associated Press.

Kelly finished his Rebels career with 6,800 passing yards, 50 passing touchdowns, 832 rushing yards and 15 rushing touchdowns.

This is the Broncos' first "Mr. Irrelevant" selection. The Mr. Irrelevant title is given to the final pick of every NFL Draft, a tradition that began in 1976. The honor also includes Irrelevant Week, which celebrates the pick and the underdog mentality with a week of events in Newport Beach, California.
