Happy Tuesday, #BroncosCountry –
We hope you're still celebrating last night's big win over the Bengals and are getting prepped for the Broncos' post-season run. It's a short week before we take on the Chargers, so let's get to it, starting with our 'lionbackers':
1. Marshall, Trevathan prove a dominating duo
Pro Football Focus highlighted Broncos inside linebackers Danny Trevathan and Brandon Marshall for their seasons thus far.
The Broncos have clinched a spot in the playoffs with the help of their stout defense that is highlighted by their pass rushers in Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware, but Marshall and Trevathan have quietly led the Broncos to one of the best run defenses in the league. According to Pro Football Focus, Trevathan and Marshall are fifth and sixth respectively in their overall rankings amongst ILBs. Against the Bengals on Monday night, Trevathan stood out with a team-high 4.7 grade, finishing with 10 tackles.
*The Broncos look set to make a Super Bowl run because of the league's best defensive unit. Denver boasts fearsome pass rushers in the front seven, and is three-deep in the secondary. The talent of the inside linebackers is an underrated aspect of the unit, however. They complete a group that has few weaknesses, and deserve praise for an impressive season. *
