Injury Report: RB Javonte Williams held out of Thursday's practice, expected to play vs. Bengals

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Running back Javonte Williams did not practice on Thursday, but he is expected to play in Sunday's high-stakes game against the Bengals.

"His leg just kind of swelled up a little bit, and so we're going to give him the day off," Head Coach Vic Fangio said before practice.

Fangio said Williams did not suffer the injury in practice, and he said he expected Williams to be ready for Sunday.

Williams (knee) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice.

Defensive end Dre'Mont Jones (foot) and inside linebacker Kenny Young (concussion) also did not practice. Fangio previously said Jones was 50-50 to play against the Bengals, and he noted Thursday that while Young has progressed through the protocols, he may not clear them in time for Sunday's game.

Safeties Kareem Jackson (back) and Caden Sterns (shoulder/neck), tackle Bobby Massie (hip) and outside linebacker Stephen Weatherly (illness) improved to limited participants after not practicing on Wednesday. Running back Melvin Gordon III (thumb/hip) and defensive Shelby Harris (ankle) were limited for the second consecutive day.

Fangio said outside linebacker Malik Reed, running back Mike Boone and safety P.J. Locke remain on Reserve/COVID-19 list, as they have yet to post the two necessary negative tests.

Cornerback Bryce Callahan, who is not listed on the injury report, is expected to make his return this week.

"He looked fine yesterday," Fangio said Thursday. "I'm glad we weren't forced to play him last week, so he got some practice last week. He's ready to go."
