Injury Update: Lerentee McCray practices as Broncos begin Ravens prep

**

The season opener is just a week away, and the Broncos got down to business with their first practice of the regular season to prepare for it.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --DE Kenny Anunike was the only player on the 53-man roster or practice squad not on the practice field as the Broncos celebrated Labor Day by -- what else? -- working.

Anunike is recovering from an Aug. 20 knee scope and has not practiced since then. Head Coach Gary Kubiak said Saturday that the second-year defensive end is "day-to-day."

OLB Lerentee McCray had his helmet on and practiced Monday. He saw some individual work last week, but has been held out of full work since injuring his groin early in training camp.

"Lerentee's doing great," Kubiak said after practice. "I think it's day-to-day, we'll see how it goes.

"He's ahead of Kenny right now, but he's practicing well."

Anunike "continues to improve," Kubiak said.

"He is starting to move around with 'Greek' [Head Athletic Trainer Steve Antonopulos] and run a little bit," Kubiak said. "We'll keep our fingers crossed. We'll go day-to-day with him.

"One thing about Kenny: Kenny works extremely hard and he has a tendency to come back quickly from things, so I'm expecting him back pretty quickly."

CB Chris Harris Jr. and WR Emmanuel Sanders also practiced. Both dealt with hamstring issues throughout the preseason but saw some practice time last week.
