Broncos sign TE Moral Stephens

TransactionTW

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Broncos signed tight end Moral Stephens on Saturday, the team announced.

Denver waived punter Justin Vogel in a corresponding roster move. Vogel signed with the Broncos on Tuesday.

Stephens, a rookie out of Florida, caught eight passes for 106 yards and three touchdowns as a redshirt senior. The 6-foot-4, 247-pound player was a key special teams contributor for the Gators and made an impact as a run blocker.

Stephens signed with the Bills in May after participating in the team's rookie minicamp as a tryout player. The Bills waived him in early June.

The Broncos now have seven tight ends on their roster. Stephens joins Jeff Heuerman, Noah Fant, Jake Butt, Troy Fumagalli, Austin Fort and Bug Howard at the position. Howard, though, is expected to miss at least a couple of weeks with an ankle injury, and Butt has missed five consecutive practices as he recovers from a knee injury.

Stephens will wear No. 88.
