ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --TE Vernon Davis made his Broncos practice-field debut Wednesday, wearing his newly minted No. 80 jersey as the Broncos began on-field preparations to face the Indianapolis Colts.

Three players were not practicing as work began Wednesday: OLBs Shaquil Barrett and Shane Ray and WR Jordan Norwood.

Norwood suffered a hamstring injury last Friday and did not play against the Packers two days later.

He was excused from practice to be at his wife's side for the birth of their child, but Head Coach Gary Kubiak said Norwood "probably wouldn't have practiced anyway" because of the hamstring injury.

Ray continues to be sidelined with the sprained right medial collateral ligament he suffered against the Browns on Oct. 18.

Barrett was on the field standing near his fellow outside linebackers during individual drills, but did not have a helmet and watched as he nursed a toe injury.

"There's a little swelling, so we just gave him day-to-day," Kubiak said. "He should be back tomorrow."

QB Peyton Manning saw limited work and did not throw, but took repetitions in run situations, Kubiak said.

TE Owen Daniels and guards Louis Vasquez and Evan Mathis also practiced. All have received veterans' off-days in recent weeks, but saw work Wednesday.

Vernon Davis played his first practice in Broncos gear on Wednesday as the team began preparation to face the Colts.
