ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — After trading Emmanuel Sanders to the 49ers, the Broncos filled the empty roster spot on Wednesday, claiming former Bears defensive lineman Jonathan Harris off waivers.

The rookie appeared in two games for Chicago before being waived on Tuesday. Harris entered the NFL in May as an undrafted free agent out of Lindenwood University, where he was honored twice as a first-team All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association selection. In Chicago, Harris was signed to the practice squad after the team's roster cuts following the preseason and was later promoted to the active roster on Sept. 28.

As a Bronco, Harris will compete alongside fellow Denver defensive linemen Derek Wolfe, Shelby Harris, Mike Purcell, Adam Gotsis, DeMarcus Walker and Dre'Mont Jones.
