For the 15th out of the last 16 years, an undrafted rookie will make the team as Nevada product Malik Reed has all but locked in his spot.

"I feel comfortable," Flacco said in a sit-down interview with 9News on Thursday. "I do. Obviously it's only a limited amount of work we get in the preseason but we get work in practice. We are a young team. And so that's a little bit different."

"Obviously because it's his throwing hand and a thumb, that's a pretty serious injury for a quarterback,'' Vic Fangio said. "It will be some time before we know exactly where he's at and how much time he would miss.''

Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway had a pro playing career spanning 16 years and five Super Bowls and now serves as general manager of the Denver Broncos. But for many years, he has been fighting off the field with a debilitating medical condition that affects his hands.
