ENGLEWOOD, Colo. --The Broncos shook up their offensive-line depth Wednesday, adding former Miami offensive lineman Sam Brenner after they were awarded the third-year veteran on waivers.

To make room for Brenner, the team waived Shelley Smith, who had not been active for any game this season.

Brenner became available when the Dolphins waived him to make room for LB James-Michael Johnson on their 53-man roster. According to the (Fort Lauderdale) Sun-Sentinel, the Dolphins intended to sign Brenner to their practice squad if he cleared waivers.

Brenner started four games at left guard in his rookie season of 2013 after playing four years at the University of Utah. He spent most of his first two seasons on the Dolphins' practice squad.
