Von Miller: I'd love to have Bradley Chubb on my team

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — In early March, NC State defensive end and top pass-rushing prospect Bradley Chubb expressed his desire to play alongside Von Miller.

"If I got to play with Von Miller, it would be crazy," Chubb said at the Combine. "He's such a great player, such a dynamic player — and I definitely could learn a lot from him."

Turns out, the feeling is mutual.

"He's Khalil Mack and Von Miller put together," said Miller on Tuesday when asked to evaluate Chubb. "He's a great player, and I'd love to have him. I'd love to have him on my team. You don't come across guys like that often."

Chubb, who is largely considered the best defensive prospect in this year's draft, succeeded at a high level over the past two seasons with the Wolfpack. In both 2016 and 2017, he recorded 10 sacks and at least 20 tackles for loss.

If Denver were to draft him with the fifth-overall pick, they could instantly add a jolt to a defense that ranked 20th in sacks in 2017.

Miller recognized Tuesday that a team doesn't often hold the opportunity to add a player of Chubb's caliber.

"I hope we don't have a high pick like that for a while," Miller said. "If we could steal a player like that, I'm all for it."

And while he may not be creating his own mock drafts, Miller said he's aware of the rumors and projections surrounding the Broncos.

"Do I pay attention to the draft? Yeah," Miller said. "I'm on Twitter and Instagram, just like everybody else. I follow the NFL on Instagram. I pay attention to the draft. That's just part of the National Football League."

When next Thursday arrives, though, Miller will leave the selection process to President of Football Operations/General Manager John Elway.

"We've got a Hall of Fame quarterback leading the ship," Miller said. "He's going to make a great decision for us, and I'll just let him make those hard decisions. Whatever happens, I'm going to be cool with it — if we take Saquon [Barkley], I'm cool with that. If we take Chubb, I'm cool with that. If we trade away, I'm cool with whatever he does with that pick."
