Broncos promote Temarrick Hemingway to active roster, place Jeff Heuerman on injured reserve, sign three to practice squad

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — In the wake of Jeff Heuerman's season-ending injury suffered during Sunday's win over the Steelers, the Broncos signed TE Temarrick Hemingway to the active roster from the practice squad, the team announced.

Hemingway, a third-year player, spent his first two years in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams, appearing in eight games in 2016. In 11 preseason games, Hemingway has 10 receptions for 93 yards. The Broncos signed him to the practice squad on Oct. 10.

Heuerman, who was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, suffered three broken ribs and a bruised lung, Head Coach Vance Joseph announced Monday.

"Obviously, Heuerman is a big loss," Joseph said. "We've lost three guys in that room so far with [Jake] Butt, [Troy] Fumagalli and now Jeff. He was having a great year, he's a great leader for that room, and so he will be missed. We've got some guys that we feel good about in Matt [LaCosse]—he's playing good football—and [Brian] Parker. Next man up, we've got to move on."

The Broncos also made a spate of practice-squad moves, signing tight end Tim Semisch, offensive lineman Dan Skipper and defensive lineman Caushaud Lyons and designating tackle Andreas Knappe as practice squad/reserve/injured.

Semisch is a first-year player out of Nebraska and was previously playing for the Memphis Express in the Alliance of American Football league. Skipper, a native of Arvada, Colorado, is a two-year veteran and spent time on the Cowboys and Lions' practice squads. Lyons, a three-year veteran out of Tusculum College, previously signed with the Broncos on June 15 before being waived Sept. 1 during the team's roster cuts.

Semisch will wear No. 86, Skipper will wear No. 78 and Lyons will wear No. 97.
