Broncos, Briefly: Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019

Broncos quarterback Case Keenum just gave Super Bowl tickets to two brothers who have made it their life's work to honor the American servicemembers who were killed in the Vietnam War.

Based on a 9News straw poll, it's safe for Blair Buswell to start forming the foundation on Pat Bowlen's bronze bust.

And while Champ Bailey shouldn't jinx his election by sitting down to pose for the bust sculpting Buswell before Saturday's vote, there is a strong chance the former Broncos' cornerback will join his former owner in the Pro Football Hall of Fame's class of 2019.

O'Halloran: "... I believe the Broncos are targeting multiple quarterbacks (as they should) and Lock is probably one of them (as he should be). But the uneducated eye test tells me Lock is not worth trading up the board to select because of what it will cost the Broncos (their second-round pick and 2020 first rounder for starters)."

In all, since Super Bowl I at the end of the 1966 NFL and AFL seasons, 22 teams have scored at least 500 points in the regular season. This season, three teams -- the Rams (527 points), Kansas City Chiefs (565) and New Orleans Saints (504) -- scored more than 500 points and, obviously, the Saints and Chiefs won't be in Atlanta in a week.

Of the previous 19 500-point scorers, four have won the Super Bowl -- the 1994 San Francisco 49ers, 1998 Denver Broncos, 1999 St. Louis Rams and 2009 Saints. That pales in comparison to the 14 times the team with the No. 1 scoring defense has won the Super Bowl.

The most popular nonpodium people during the Rams' availability: running back C.J. Anderson and defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, two former Broncos. Anderson was cut during the offseason and bounced to Carolina, Oakland and then the Rams. Now he's in the Super Bowl. Phillips held court for the entire hour in a crowd that was at least five-deep.
