Broncos, Briefly: Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019

For years, as his sack total would rise in spurts, Miller would reference Dumervil's line that "sacks come in bunches." Sometimes he would go two, three, occasionally four games without one. And then sometimes he would embark on a hot streak and total five, six, seven in a short span.

There is more art than science to sacking a quarterback and rarely do they follow a logical timeline. But now more than ever, Miller — and Chubb — are relying on the words of Dumervil as their sounding board where reason doesn't exist.

The Metropolitan Football Stadium District convened early Wednesday for its quarterly meeting, and among the more illuminating discussions surrounded upcoming non-Broncos events at Mile High.

"When you look at those stats after two games, it's tough to really tell much about it," quarterback Joe Flacco said. "I think we're definitely gaining the confidence that we can be a really good offense, we just have to go out there and really start to do it."

So why is the Broncos' offense close to getting it right?

Just within the past few days, former Denver Broncos safety and current team marketing ambassador Steve Atwater made the cut of modern-era nominees for the Pro Football Hall of Fame's Class of 2020. But Atwater, much to the chagrin of many in Broncos Country, has only been a two-time finalist despite being one of the most prolific safeties in NFL history. Last week, 104.3 The Fan caught up with Atwater.
