Phil Armatas enters his second season with the Denver Broncos in 2011 and is a coaching/personnel assistant for the club.

Armatas handles quality control duties and film breakdown for the coaching staff. In addition, he provides evaluation and research for the Broncos’ pro personnel department.

Before joining the Broncos, Armatas coached tight ends at Hofstra University in 2009 following a three-year stint (2006-08) as a graduate assistant coach at Marshall University. He received a master’s degree from Marshall in adult technical education in 2008.

A 2004 graduate of Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice studies, Armatas began his career as an assistant coach at Canton McKinley Senior High School in Canton, Ohio, in 2005. He also taught at Canton McKinley in addition to his coaching responsibilities.

Armatas, who saw time at tight end, defensive end and kicker at Canton McKinley during his high school playing career, was born on Dec. 29, 1980. He resides in Denver.
