Austin is a fourth-year player who has appeared in 11 regular-season games with the New York Giants (2011-12), Miami Dolphins (2013) and Dallas Cowboys (2013). His career totals include 10 defensive stops (7 solo).

Selected by the Giants in the second round (52nd overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft from the University of North Carolina, Austin spent his rookie season on injured reserve before playing in a career-best eight games in 2012.
