ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Outside linebacker Shane Ray, cornerback Aqib Talib, tight end Jeff Heuerman and wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders all returned to practice as the Broncos continued their preparations for the Oakland Raiders with a practice in shoulder pads Thursday.

Talib, who missed Wednesday's work with a shoulder injury, had a full workload, while Heuerman, Ray and Sanders were limited.

For Heuerman, Thursday's work was his first on-field work since he played against the New England Patriots on Nov. 12. He missed all of last week's practices and the Bengals game because of a knee injury.

Defensive end Adam Gotsis and nose tackle Domata Peko Sr. were the only players on the active roster who didn't practice. Gotsis is recovering from an ankle injury, while Peko received a rest day. Both were on the sideline watching teammates go through drills.

"[Gotsis] is sore, but he's getting better," Head Coach Vance Joseph said. "[Gotsis is] day-to-day, so we'll see."

The Broncos practiced with 52 players on the field after they waived cornerback Lorenzo Doss.

"We're trying to get better as a football team," Joseph said of the decision to part ways with Doss. Joseph added that the Broncos would "probably not" add a 53rd player to the roster before Sunday.
