Welker, Wolfe Injury Updates

Posted Dec 9, 2013

Head Coach John Fox updated the injury status of WR Wes Welker and DE Derek Wolfe Monday afternoon.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Just before halftime of Sunday's win against the Tennessee Titans, wide receiver Wes Welker was knocked out of the game with a concussion.

"Obviously, Wes is going through the concussion protocol," Head Coach John Fox said in updating the team's injuries Monday afternoon. "I know there is a lot of speculation out there because of Thursday Night (Football). Again, I’m not as familiar with that. I don’t have a doctor in front of my name. But we’ll go through whatever and we’ll see him – whatever they come up with, we’ll obviously think about his health first."

Fox said he's not in a position to answer whether Welker could suit up when the Broncos take on the Chargers on Thursday night.

"We’ll go through the proper protocol -- the league is pretty strict," he said. "We’re obviously concerned with any player’s health."

Fox had good news with regards to the health of defensive end Derek Wolfe.

The head coach said doctors have a "good idea" of the source of the illness that has kept Wolfe out of the past two games.

"He’ll be in the building tomorrow and start gradually working back," Fox said. "He’s coming back – he’ll kind of get back involved and we’ll bring him back day-to-day.”

The final injury update was in regards to Trindon Holliday, who Fox said will practice tomorrow.
