Watching the Mocks: 3.0

Posted Mar 28, 2014

A look around the Internet at draft pundits' latest projections for the Broncos' pick at No. 31 in the 2014 NFL Draft.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Let's take a look at the most recent predictions across the web for the Broncos' pick at No. 31 in the 2014 NFL Draft.

Here's a look back at Watching the Mocks 2.0 and Watching the Mocks 1.0.

DenverBroncos.com Independent Analyst Andrew Mason: Wisconsin LB Chris Borland

In this scenario, I think they could entertain a trade-down of a few picks and still get Borland, who has the steadiness, smarts and technical proficiency to be a starter from Day One. It will depend what quarterbacks remain on the board -- and on this mock draft, Derek Carr and Jimmy Garoppolo remain available. Offensive line and cornerback are among the possibilities, too. This will be one of the hardest selections to project -- and that's probably what John Elway wants.

Sports Illustrated's Chris Burke: UCLA G Xavier Su'a-Filo

Say hello to Zane Beadles’ younger, cheaper replacement. By signing DeMarcus Ware, T.J. Ward and Aqib Talib to bolster the defense, John Elway left himself in position to hone in on one or two areas of specific need in Round 1. The OG spot without question belongs at the top of the list, and there is not a better prospect there than Su’a-Filo.

NFL.com's Bucky Brooks: Arkansas C Travis Swanson

The Broncos have won the free-agency sweepstakes by all accounts, but the team still needs to tweak the offensive line. Swanson is a smart pivot with superb skills and instincts.

NFL.com's Mike Huguenin: Alabama LB C.J. Mosley

Mosley is the type of physical presence the Broncos need.

CBS Sports' Rob Rang: TCU CB Jason Verrett

The Broncos paid top dollar for Aqib Talib but with the talented cornerback having never played a full season in his seven-year NFL career, Denver would be wise to add fortification to the position in the draft. Verrett may lack size but what the 5-09, 189-pound Verrett lacks in bulk, he more than makes up with grit and athleticism.

Second-round pick: Fresno State WR Davante Adams

Replacing Eric Decker with a similarly reliable route-runner and hands-catcher like Adams shouldn't be this easy.

CBS Sports' Pete Prisco: Ohio State LB Ryan Shazier

There is a need for speed and they have to get faster.

CBS Sports' Pat Kirwan: Mosley

Wesly Woodyard is gone and Mosley can stay on the field in all down-and-distance situations.
