Trivia for a 'Great Cause'

Posted Oct 1, 2013

Wesley Woodyard's Touchdowns for Tomorrow event Tuesday Night raised money for his 16Ways Foundation and Colorado Youth at Risk.

DENVER -- Which Broncos captain spent his day off helping raise money for at-risk youth?

Trivia was the theme at Wesley Woodyard's Touchdowns for a Tomorrow event at Rackhouse Pub Tuesday evening.

The night was all about raising money for Woodyard's 16Ways Foundation and Colorado Youth At Risk. Both organizations strive to empower at-risk youth, reassuring them that they matter and helping them to make positive life choices.

"That's a blessing," cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie said of the great attendance at the event. "Any time you can give back and have a turnout like this, I'm going to try to always be a part of something like that. Especially with a good guy like Wesley."

Rackhouse Pub was packed for the event -- the restaurant was closed to the public because there were so many sign-ups for Tuesday evening's trivia.

"It's a lot of fun, this event," Woodyard said. "It's double the size that it was last year. It's a good turnout for a great cause."

Many of Woodyard's teammates, including David Bruton, Mike Adams, Rodgers-Cromartie and Ben Garland, in addition to several Broncos alumni, showed up to support Woodyard during the event.

"It's not necessarily about just supporting me," Woodyard said. "It's about supporting the whole cause."

Those in attendance were able to bid on the players to join their team for the trivia portion of the night during a silent auction.

One table bid $1,000 for the right to add Woodyard to their trivia team.

The Touchdowns for Tomorrow Trivia Night is just one of the events Woodyard hosts through his 16Ways Foundation. He also hosts a Toy Drive for the holidays in December. The fourth annual drive is Dec. 9.

"To see guys that are on the team and alumni come out and support a great cause, to me that's what it's all about," Woodyard said. "Seeing the community stick together."
