Thomas Nominated for Vizio Award

Posted Dec 17, 2013

Tight End Julius Thomas is a finalist for Vizio's Top Value Performer Award.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – With 54 catches and 11 touchdowns this season, tight end Julius Thomas has earned a nomination for Vizio’s Top Value Performer Award.

The award is designed to recognize the NFL player whose on-field performance most exceeds expectations and their annual base salary. This will be the seventh time Vizio has presented the award.

Thomas is nominated alongside Alshon Jeffery of Chicago, Zac Stacy of St. Louis, Giovani Bernard of Cincinnati and Russell Wilson of Seattle. Wilson won the award last season.

The finalists were selected by VIzio with the help of former general manager and current analyst and commentator Charley Casserly.

The winner will be decided by fan vote and fans can either vote at VIZIO.com/TVP or on Twitter by using the player’s custom hashtag. To cast a vote on Twitter for Thomas use the hashtag #TVPJuliusThomas. Voting will remain open until Jan. 17.

Previous winners of the award include Matt Cassell (2008), Steve Smith (NYG, 2009), Victor Cruz (2011) and Wilson.

“We’re thrilled to launch our seventh annual Top Value Performer program and announce this year’s line-up of candidates,” Lily Knowles, Vice President of Product Marketing, VIZIO, said in a press release. “The select group of players are not only a talented crop, but arguably the most collectively dominant group we’ve seen to date.  We’re always amazed at the creative lengths nominees go to on their social networks to drive fan votes and we look forward to more spirited efforts over the weeks to come.”

Thomas is a third-year tight end out of Portland State, where he played basketball before transitioning to football. After battling injury in his first two seasons, Thomas has had a breakout year in 2013. He now holds the franchise record for touchdowns in a season by a tight end with 11, breaking the mark set by Shannon Sharpe.
