Paxton Released; Roster Trimmed to 75

Posted Aug 27, 2012

On Monday, the Broncos announced 13 transactions, including releasing long snapper Lonie Paxton, to get the roster to an NFL-mandated 75 players.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- After three weeks of training camp and three preseason games, the Broncos are one step closer to the final, 53-man roster.

On Monday, the team made 13 transactions to trim the roster to the required 75 players.

Veteran long snapper Lonie Paxton was released while linebacker Elliot Coffey, wide receiver Mark Dell, wide receiver Cameron Kenney, tight end Anthony Miller, defensive end Cyril Obiozor, running back Xavier Omon, safety Anthony Perkins, tackle Mike Remmers, cornerback Ramzee Robinson, fullback Austin Sylvester and guard Austin Wuebbels were waived.

Entering his 13th NFL season, Paxton is the most veteran player on the list, which includes five 2012 college free agents.

Paxton, a three-time Super Bowl champion with the New England Patriots, played in all 16 games in three seasons with the Broncos. He has participated in 204 of a possible 211 games (regular season and postseason) during his NFL career.

In addition to the 12 transactions listed above, the Broncos also placed defensive end Jason Hunter on injured reserve with a triceps injury.

By the end of the week -- Friday at 7 p.m. MDT -- the Broncos will need to make 22 more cuts to reach the regular-season total of 53.
