PFF Names All-AFC West Team

Pro Football Focus named 12 Broncos to its All-AFC West Team.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Pro Football Focus released their All-AFC West team and it is loaded with Broncos. Of the 25 spots on the team, 12 of them are Broncos, nine are Chiefs and the remaining four are Chargers.

The 2013 season was a strong one for the AFC West. It was the only conference to put three teams in the playoffs. The four teams had a combined 37 wins – the most of any division in the AFC. And now the Broncos are headed to the Super Bowl representing the AFC.

PFF named Peyton Manning their MVP and Offensive Player of the Year as well as a First Team All-Pro, so naturally he made the All-AFC West squad. He was joined on the offensive side of the ball by three of his offensive lineman – center Manny Ramirez, right guard Louis Vasquez and right tackle Orlando Franklin – as well as three of his targets – tight end Julius Thomas and wide receivers Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker.

On the other side of the ball, Terrance Knighton made the list on the defensive interior for what PFF called “his stellar season.” Danny Trevathan was one of just two linebackers honored by PFF. Trevathan played 963 snaps this season and PFF praised his pass rushing productivity saying that he was top-10 in the league as well as his run stop percentage – which they ranked second in the NFL.

Both of the cornerbacks on the All-AFC West team were Broncos as Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Chris Harris Jr. were listed as they both held quarterbacks to sub-70 passer ratings. Harris Jr. was also named to second-team PFF All-Pro.

On special teams, kicker Matt Prater made the team for his league-best 81 touchbacks and hitting more than 96 percent of his field goals, not to mention his NFL-record 64-yard field goal against the Titans.
