Montgomery Agrees to Terms

The Broncos on Tuesday agreed to terms with free agent center Will Montgomery.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- After focusing on the defensive side of the ball with the first three free-agent additions, the Broncos' front office has now looked to the offense for the second straight acquisition.

Free agent center Will Montgomery agreed to terms with the team on a one-year deal Tuesday, joining wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, defensive end DeMarcus Ware, cornerback Aqib Talib and safety T.J. Ward as the Broncos' 2014 free agent additions.

Montgomery, originally a seventh-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft, started four of his six games played as a rookie for the Carolina Panthers -- then led by current Broncos Head Coach John Fox.

From there, he played in seven games -- starting two -- for the New York Jets in 2007. His 2008 season was spent between the Jets' and Redskins' active rosters before he found continuity in Washington the following season.

He played in 77 of a possible 80 games for the Redskins from 2009 to 2013, starting every game for each of the past three seasons. During his career he has notched 46 starts at center, 10 starts at right guard and seven starts at left guard.

The Virginia Tech product is a ninth-year player who has played in 90 career regular-season games with 63 starts and one playoff contest.
