Mincey Signed, Walton Waived

The Broncos signed defensive lineman Jeremy Mincey Tuesday, waiving center J.D. Walton to make room on the roster.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- In the past four weeks, the Broncos have lost defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson to injured reserve and defensive end Derek Wolfe to an illness that has kept him out of three consecutive games.

This week, the club went to the free-agent market to bring in some reinforcements for the defensive line.

The Broncos signed sixth-year defensive lineman Jeremy Mincey Tuesday afternoon. To make room on the roster, the club waived center J.D. Walton.

Mincey has played in 64 games with 41 starts in his career. Eighteen of his 20 career sacks have come in the past four seasons.

Among his career totals are 276 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, an interception, six forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Mincey played under Defensive Coordinator Jack Del Rio when he was Jacksonville's head coach, and spent time on the Jaguars' line alongside defensive tackle Terrance Knighton.

Walton, a fourth-year player who started all 36 regular-season games and two postseason contests for the Broncos in his first two seasons, was on the club's reserve/PUP list for the first eight games of this season.

The 2010 third-round draft pick spent the majority of 2012 on injured reserve and has been a gameday inactive for the team during the last six contests this season.
