Lynch Goes 1-on-1 with Elway

Posted Jan 7, 2014

FOX NFL analyst John Lynch's half-hour interview with Broncos Executive VP of Football Ops John Elway airs Tuesday night on FOX Sports 1.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Since Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway joined the Broncos in his current capacity in 2011, the team has seen plenty of success.

The Broncos are one of eight teams in that span to average at least 10 wins a year, one of five to make the playoffs in all three seasons and one of just three to win three consecutive division titles.

As this year's Broncos get set to take on the San Diego Chargers in the Divisional Round of the AFC playoffs, FOX NFL analyst John Lynch goes 1-on-1 with Elway in a special that will air tonight at 6 p.m. MST.

The 30-minute interview between two former Broncos and former Stanford Cardinal players covers a variety of topics, from Elway's baseball days, his back-to-back Super Bowl championships, his Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony and even his role in bringing Peyton Manning to Denver.

“I was listening and trying to help him through that process…” Elway told FOX SPORTS 1-ON-1. “One thing I told him, I said, ‘Peyton, in my opinion things are going to be fine. They’re going to work out for you. The best thing that … the thing that you're going to have to do is make the best decision you can for where you're going to end your career. And to me, is you make a decision right now, it’s going to be the wrong decision.’”

Lynch said he enjoyed sitting down with Elway for the interview, which took place at the Broncos' Dove Valley headquarters.

“I thought the entire interview was extremely interesting because it illustrates who John Elway is and the qualities that he possesses that lead to greatness on the field, in the front office, in business and in everything he does,” Lynch said. “The other thing that struck me was that, this was really John's personality. I am around him a lot, we are great friends and in his normal interviews he is a bit guarded - not in this one.”

The full interview airs from 6 p.m. MST to 6:30 p.m. MST tonight on FOX Sports 1.
