Jamaal Charles' lone preseason action to come vs. Green Bay

Posted Aug 21, 2017

Head Coach Vance Joseph said Charles knows this is his chance to "go do his thing."

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Running back Jamaal Charles’ lone preseason opportunity will come Saturday against the Green Bay Packers.

Head Coach Vance Joseph announced Monday the veteran running back would receive a number of snaps against the Packers as the Broncos look to evaluate the former All-Pro in game action.

“Jamaal’s going to play a lot,” Joseph said. “I’m not sure how much.”

Joseph said Charles will “probably not” play the following week in the fourth preseason game, which is typically reserved for younger players.

“This is going to be Jamaal’s shot to go do his thing,” Joseph said. “He knows it. He’s ready.”

Charles will look to return to the form he displayed against the Broncos for many years while with the Chiefs.

While in Kansas City, he twice earned First-Team All-Pro honors and holds the NFL record for career yards per carry.

Charles belongs to a crowded running back room that includes C.J. Anderson, Devontae Booker, De’Angelo Henderson, Stevan Ridley and Juwan Thompson.
