Dysert Among Fastest Combine Arms

Posted Feb 27, 2014

According to the numbers released by Ourlads NFL Scouting Services, Zac Dysert’s throwing velocity at last year’s NFL Combine tied for the fastest since those numbers began to be recorded in 2008.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – When you think of how radar guns are used in sports, it’s usually baseball or tennis that come to mind.

But, in recent years, the NFL has begun to clock quarterbacks’ velocity using radar guns at the league’s annual scouting combine.

At the top of the list of hardest throwers is Broncos quarterback Zac Dysert, who clocked in at 59 miles per hour during the 2013 NFL Combine. That number ties Dysert at the top of the list with Tyler Bray (2013), Kirk Cousins (2012), Brandon Weeden (2012) and Colin Kaepernick (2011).

Those numbers are according to a list released by Ourlads NFL Scouting Services that dates back to 2008, when the numbers were first recorded. Brock Osweiler did not throw at the 2012 Combine, so he does not have a figure listed.

Other current NFL starters that did have velocities recorded are Nick Foles (57 mph), Mark Sanchez (57), Andy Dalton (56), Cam Newton (56), Joe Flacco (55), Geno Smith (55), Chad Henne (53) and Christian Ponder (51).
