Get to know Gabriela:

What does being a DBC mean to you? Being a DBC means being able to give back to the community and to fans in ways unimaginable.  From visiting Children’s Hospital to lift up kids’ spirits, to helping build houses for Habitat for Humanity, there is an unparalleled opportunity to help support the community of Denver.  Being a DBC also means growth – and it helps me to learn from 25 other strong, talented, and hard-working women.

Who is your hero? My hero is my dad. He has been my No. 1 fan all of my life. He has an incredible talent to love without condition, and keep me humble, all in the same breath.

Tell us about the first concert you’ve ever been to? The first concert I went to was Journey and Men at Work! Even though I was only in the eighth grade, I had a great time dancing to these amazing ‘80s bands. You can’t beat live music, and I am the only one my age who knows about “Be Good Johnny,” so bring on the trivia.

If there were a movie made about your life, which celebrity would you want to play you? Who would play your parents? Amy Poehler would have to play me and my mom. Since she is so good at impersonations, I know she would nail it. Steve Carell would play my dad.

What is your dream vacation destination? My dream vacation would be somewhere in South America, like Argentina. Good food, good dancing and good scenery is all that matters.

Any hidden talents or tricks you can do? Not many, but I can fold my tongue into a three-leaf clover.

When did you first start dancing /cheerleading? I begged my parents to put me in dance when I was 12.

In 10 years I see myself… In 10 years, I would like to be a successful nurse practitioner working with underprivileged women, with a couple pets, and maybe some real babies.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I didn’t think much about adulthood as a kid, but in high school, I wanted to be a journalist.

What advice would you give your younger self? Something along the lines of, don’t throw your retainer in the trash can (yikes), you are not actually smarter than your parents and try to be a little kinder than you think possible.
