Brooking Signs With Broncos

Posted Aug 6, 2012

On Monday, the Broncos signed linebacker Keith Brooking.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- On Monday, the Broncos added another veteran presence to the defensive side of the ball, signing linebacker Keith Brooking.

A five-time Pro Bowler, Brooking was part of Denver's last Super Bowl win -- on the losing side. The linebacker was a first-round pick in 1998, helping on Atlanta's run to Super Bowl XXXIII as a rookie.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pound linebacker has accumulated 1,387 tackles, 21 sacks, 13 interceptions, 64 pass breakups, eight forced fumbles and 10 fumble recoveries in his 14-year career, according to press box totals.

For each of the past 11 seasons, Brooking has played in all 16 games -- starting all 16 in nine of those years.

He has two 200-plus-tackle seasons to his name, and his five consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl made him one of just three Atlanta Falcons to accomplish that feat.

Brooking spent the past three seasons with the Dallas Cowboys after spending the first 11 years of his career with the Falcons.

Also on Monday, the Broncos placed running back Mario Fannin on injured reserve with an Achilles injury. Fannin, a second-year player out of Auburn, spent the 2011 season on IR as well.
