Broncos trade Riley Dixon to Giants for conditional 2019 draft pick

Posted Apr 23, 2018

The Broncos' punter situation has been clarified.

The Broncos cleared up their punter situation Monday when they traded Riley Dixon to the New York Giants for a conditional seventh-round pick in 2019.

Dixon, a seventh-round pick by the Broncos in the 2016 NFL Draft, made the Broncos' roster as a rookie after winning the punting job in training camp against veteran Britton Colquitt. In his two seasons with Denver, Dixon was one of the league's more active punters, kicking 162 punts for 7,399 yards.

Recently signed former Raider Marquette King is now the only punter on the roster. The Broncos welcomed the seven-year veteran in early April as part of a larger effort to improve on special teams through competition. The team also signed kicker Taylor Bertolet and long snapper Christian Kuntz in free agency.
