Broncos Take Painter with Sixth-Round Pick

In the sixth round of the 2013 NFL Draft, the Broncos selected Virginia Tech offensive tackle Vinston Painter.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- With their second pick received in a draft-day tradewith the Green Bay Packers, the Broncos selected Virginia Tech offensive tackle Vinston Painter.

Painter was a coaches' pick for All-ACC Honorable Mention in 2012, when he started all 13 games, in on 925 plays, including 867 on offense and 58 on special teams.

In his first career start, which came as as senior, Painter played every offensive snap, had six knockdown blocks and graded out at 84 percent.

For his career, Painter played in 32 games with the Hokies.

He was among the top performers among offensive linemen at the NFL Scouting Combine with a 4.95-second 40-yard dash and a 30.5-inch vertical jump, while putting up 32 repetitions on the bench press.

"With our pick of Vinston Painter from Virginia Tech, he's a hard-working, physical tackle," Executive Vice President of Football Operations John Elway tweeted. "We like his potential."
