Posted Apr 27, 2013

The Broncos selected Georgia wide receiver Tavarres King with the 161st pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- With the 161st pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Broncos selected Georgia wide receiver Tavarres King.

"So excited to be a Bronco!!!" King tweeted. "Thanks everyone for the love and support! Look  forward to getting to work!!"

King finished his career with the Bulldogs ranked third all-time with 21 receiving touchdowns and fourth all-time with 2,602 receiving yards.

As a senior, King led the team with 950 receiving yards as one of the club's offensive captains. He capped his career with a 104-yard performance in the Capital One Bowl, including a 75-yard touchdown catch.

He stepped up in big games, earning a agme-high 142 receiving yards against eventual national-champion Alabama. He also had a six-catch, 205-yard, one-touchdown performance against Michigan State in the Outback Bowl as a junior.

He showed off his speed at the NFL Scouting Combine, running the 40-yard dash in 4.47 seconds, which tied for 13th among receivers at the event.

King is the second Broncos newcomer at wide receiver, joining free-agent pickup Wes Welker.
