Broncos-Ravens Rematch Set

Posted Jan 6, 2013

Denver's Divisional Round matchup has been set. The Ravens will travel to Sports Authority Field at Mile High next Saturday.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Just three weeks ago, the Broncos went into M&T Bank Stadium and left with a 34-17 victory against the Baltimore Ravens.

"We edged out a really good Baltimore Ravens team today," linebacker Von Miller said at the time. "We might see them again in the playoffs."

Miller was a fortune-teller, as Baltimore's victory against the Indianapolis Colts Sunday set up a rematch with the Broncos in the Divisional Round of the AFC playoffs.

The Ravens-Broncos tilt is scheduled to kick off at 2:30 p.m. MST on Saturday, Jan. 12.

Head Coach John Fox acknowledged that the two teams' familiarity "works both ways."

"The fact that they played us is an advantage to them, too," Fox said of a potential rematch. "The fact that we played them, that familiarity works for them and for us."

In Denver's win in Baltimore, the Ravens were held to just 12 first downs -- the first of which didn't come until the team's sixth drive -- and one third-down conversion.

Meanwhile, the Denver offense's 34 points were the third-most ever scored by an opponent in Baltimore in a game that didn't go to overtime.

The Broncos jumped out to a 31-3 lead, held running back Ray Rice to 38 yards and pressured quarterback Joe Flacco into two turnovers, one of which was an interception returned 98 yards for a touchdown.

But wide receiver Demaryius Thomas said last week that he expected whoever the Broncos played to change their gameplan from the previous matchup.

Regardless, Fox maintained that the game will be won by the team that best executes come game time.

"As far as who you play, who played who, when — it’s still a 60-minute game between the lines," Fox said. "It’ll be at our place, in front of our crowd, our fans who have been terrific all year. We’ve lost once at home and it was quite a long time ago. That’s kind of what we’re staring at.”
