Broncos Injury Report: Todd Davis evaluated for high ankle sprain

Posted Oct 23, 2017

Head Coach Vance Joseph also updated the injury statuses of Isaiah McKenzie, Emmanuel Sanders, Menelik Watson and Cody Latimer.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Inside linebacker Todd Davis underwent further evaluation for a high ankle sprain early Monday afternoon, Head Coach Vance Joseph announced.

“He’s still being seen by our [doctors],” Joseph said, “so I’ll know more tomorrow and more Wednesday.”

The Broncos are already thin at inside linebacker. Reserve player Corey Nelson tore his bicep last week and was placed on injured reserve, while starter Brandon Marshall battled through a sore shoulder to play in Sunday’s game. The Broncos promoted Jerrol Garcia-Williams from the practice squad Saturday in the wake of Nelson’s injury.

Joseph said he was unsure if the Broncos would need to make a move.

“We’re not sure,” Joseph said. “Todd’s still being evaluated, but if it’s obviously past a couple weeks, we’re going to have to make a move. Zaire [Anderson] came in yesterday and played 10 snaps and had five tackles. He’s a guy that’s played in the past, so I’m comfortable with him as a starter if he has to be that.”

Joseph also announced Isaiah McKenzie (ankle), Emmanuel Sanders (ankle) and Menelik Watson (calf) would be day to day headed toward the Broncos’ Monday night matchup with Kansas City.

Cody Latimer, who has missed the previous three weeks, could also be headed toward a return to the field.

“He’s feeling good. He should work on Wednesday,” Joseph said.
