Posted Mar 23, 2012

The Broncos added another free agent tight end on Friday as the team agreed to terms with Jacob Tamme.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Tight end Jacob Tamme agreed to terms with the Broncos on Friday, becoming the second tight end to sign with the team on the day.

Tamme is entering his fifth NFL season, having spent his first four years with the Indianapolis Colts. He’s caught 92 passes for 855 yards and five touchdowns in 60 games (14 starts).

The tight end has appeared in all 16 games in each of the past three years for the Colts and set career highs with 67 catches for 631 yards and four touchdowns in 2010 – the last season he played with Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning.

Drafted by Indianapolis in the fourth round of the 2008 draft out of the University of Kentucky, Tamme caught 133 passes for 1,417 yards with 11 touchdowns during his college career. His 133 receptions rank first in school history and second in Southeastern Conference annals among tight ends.

Tamme adds depth to the Broncos’ tight end corps, joining Joel Dreessen, Cornelius Ingram, Virgil Green and Julius Thomas.
