ENGLEWOOD, Colo. The Denver Broncos on Monday signed free-agent wide receiver Dicky Lyons, a first-year player from the University of Kentucky.
The club also on Monday waived rookie running back Chris Brown, whom it signed as a college free agent from the University of Oklahoma on April 26.
Lyons (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) is a first-year wide receiver from the University of Kentucky who joined the Broncos as a free agent on May 3, 2010
Played 39 career games (28 starts) at Kentucky from 2004-08, totaling 141 receptions for 1,752 yards (12.5 avg.) with 18 touchdowns
Finished his career ranked fifth in Kentucky history in receptions, fourth in receiving yards and third in touchdown catches
Also returned 29 kickoffs for 687 yards (23.7 avg.) during his career at Kentucky
Became the first Wildcat to post multiple touchdown receptions in three consecutive games as a sophomore in 2006
Registered a career-high 12 receptions vs. Middle Tennessee State (9/13/08) as well as a personal-best 124 receiving yards (3 TDs) vs. Florida (10/20/07)
Attended Holy Cross High School in New Orleans, where he was a three-sport standout in football, golf and track
Totaled nearly 2,000 receiving yards and returned 15 kicks for touchdowns during his career at Holy Cross in addition to handling punting duties for the school
Father, Dicky Lyons Sr., also played wide receiver for Kentucky (1966-68) and had his jersey retired by the school
