ENGLEWOOD, Colo. The Denver Broncos on Tuesday claimed linebacker Bruce Davis off waivers from New England, it was announced. He was waived by the Patriots on Thursday.
Davis (6-foot-3, 252 pounds) is a second-year player who has seen time in five games for his career. He spent the majority of the 2009 season on New Englands practice squad after playing in five games as a rookie for Pittsburgh in 2008. He was drafted by the Steelers in the third round (88th overall) of the 2008 NFL Draft from UCLA.
A first-team All-Pacific-10 selection as a senior at UCLA, Davis finished his Bruins career ranked second in school history with 29 sacks.
He earned All-American accolades at Clear Creek High School in League City, Texas, and was born on Sept. 2, 1985.
