A New Home

In 2011, the Broncos will play in Sports Authority Field at Mile High -- named for the Colorado-based sponsor.

DENVER -- The hometown team will now play in a stadium named for a hometown sponsor.

Welcome to Sports Authority Field at Mile High, the new home of the Denver Broncos.

On Tuesday, the stadium district unanimously approved the assignment of stadium naming rights from INVESCO to Sports Authority, which is headquartered in Englewood, Colo.

"We're excited at the opportunity to partner with a local company," Senior Vice President of Business Development Mac Freeman said. "And thrilled that we've secured significant capital funding for the stadium that will go a long way in allowing us to keep it one of the premier sports facilities in North America."

The board will now begin negotiation of a 15-year extension, tacked on to the final 10 years of the contract originally signed by INVESCO.

In addition, the Broncos are expected to finalize a 25-year marketing agreement with Sports Authority.

The parties are hopeful that the initial phases of the transition to Sports Authority Field at Mile High will be in place for the team's home opener on Monday Night Football against the Oakland Raiders.
