2013 NFL Draft Preview: Tight Ends

A look at the top tight end prospects in the 2013 NFL Draft.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- In the weeks leading up to the 2013 NFL Draft, DenverBroncos.com is taking a look at the draft prospects position-by-position.

We will devote a week to each group, looking back at some of the Broncos' previous picks at the position and showcasing some of the top prospects through top stories, blogs and Broncos TV videos.

This week: tight ends.

Below you will find five of the top prospects at the tight end position.

TOP PROSPECTS AT THE POSITION:

TYLER EIFERT
• POSITION: Tight End
• COLLEGE: Notre Dame
• HEIGHT: 6'5"
• WEIGHT: 250
• CAREER STATS: 140 catches, 1,840 yards, 11 TDs
• COMBINE: 4.68 40-yd. dash, 22 bench reps, 35.5 in. vert. jump
On his style of play:
"I'm lucky to be coming in at a time where the type of tight end that I am is being used quite a bit. In the passing game but also a guy that can stay in the game on every down throughout the game and can also block. Create mismatch problems in the passing game."

"The feedback I’ve been getting from most teams is they like my pass catching ability. They’re a little concerned with the run game. I’ve been trying to tell them I’m willing to do that and I’ve been working hard at that, and over time I can only improve."

"I’ve played through a lot of injuries. Unfortunately, I’ve been hit with a shoulder injury twice. I played through that
in the 2011 season. Haven’t had a problem with that since. And being able to play through this, yeah, I think teams want
to have a guy on their roster that’s going to keep playing knowing that the team needs them on the field."
JORDAN REED
• POSITION: Tight End
• COLLEGE: Florida
• HEIGHT: 6'2"
• WEIGHT: 236
• CAREER STATS: 79 catches, 945 yards, 6 TDs
• COMBINE: 4.72 40-yd. dash, 16 bench reps
On which NFL player he compares to:
“I want to be more own player, but the player I'm most similar to would probably be Aaron Hernandez right now, just because of his athleticism. And we have similar athletic ability -- I can create mismatches, run good routes, and just use my athleticism to my advantage."
